Removable Shock-Isolated Frame for 3U Rack Equipment

The SKB 3RR-3U24-25B combines a rugged rotomolded LMDP polyethylene shell with a shock-isolated internal rack frame. Eight elastomeric shock absorbers help reduce the shock and vibration transmitted to properly installed equipment during compatible transport and handling conditions.

Unlike the static-frame 3RS version, the 3RR model uses a positive-lock removable frame. The rack slides outward like a file drawer for access to installed components and can be removed completely for bench integration, equipment mounting, wiring, inspection, and maintenance.

The 3U frame provides approximately 5.25 inches of vertical mounting space for compatible standard 19-inch equipment. Square-hole front and rear rails accommodate compatible #10-32 or 6 mm cage nuts, allowing the rack hardware to be configured for the equipment package.

Current SKB data lists approximately 23.75 inches rail-to-rail, 31.5 inches from the front rail to the back lid, and 28.25 inches from the rear rail to the front lid. Fit calculations must account for the equipment chassis, rack ears, support rails, fasteners, connectors, cable bends, strain relief, controls, handles, ventilation space, and every other projection.

The standard shock configuration is published for 40 to 150 pounds of installed equipment. An optional 160-to-300-pound configuration requires additional shock absorbers installed by SKB. The correct configuration depends on total equipment weight, center of gravity, front-to-rear balance, vertical placement, support requirements, and the transport environment.

Standard features include gasket-sealed removable lids, recessed black powder-coated stainless steel hardware, eight spring-loaded lift handles, an automatic pressure-relief valve, lid hangers, molded stacking ribs and lugs, coupling straps, and built-in edge casters. The manufacturer states that the case meets or exceeds MIL-STD-810H; confirm any contract-specific test method, environmental requirement, ingress rating, or certification before procurement.
